Often, players acquired when an all-star level talent is sent away face tremendous pressure and scrutiny that they never asked for. Take Zarley Zalapski and John Cullen – both players who made all-star teams once traded to Hartford but vilified because of who was sent to Pittsburgh to acquire them: Ron Francis. Neither would last three seasons with the Whalers.

Luckily for Logan Stankoven, he probably doesn’t have to worry about that. With his smaller size (5’8”) and the best name* in franchise history since, well, Zarley Zalapski, the winger from Kamloops, British Columbia has the opportunity to enter Canes cult status with such short kings as Chad LaRose and Nathan Gerbe, but unlike those guys, Stankoven’s ceiling is a lot higher.
