We're not even a month in, but is the Canes goaltending one of their strengths?
It’s still entirely too early to get a read on these Hurricanes, who appear to be very good except when they’re not. While this isn’t the days of Dan Ellis committing seppuku with his skate blade or Cam Ward scoring on himself with a puck in his skate, the fanbase is going to be quick to jump on the cursed goaltending bandwagon. Smarting off a postseason that saw Frederik Andersen have his salad tossed by Chris Kreider in the third period of Game 6, people see Pytor Kochetkov give up 3 goals on 4 shots in St. Louis and the “if only the Canes had goaltending” takes start appearing that have been around so long they’re saved on ZIP disk.
