It was a West/East clash this past weekend. Did we learn nothing from Biggie and Tupac?
The Canes faced a double shot of west coast visitors this weekend, with the Vancouver Canucks coming in on Friday and the Edmonton Oilers visiting on Saturday. It's weird that two west coast teams come in at the same time, right? It's not like they share a plane or anything. Like, you understand when a team does a west coast road trip because they don't want to be taking five hour plane rides multiple times during the season - just take one big flight, then make little hops along the way, getting your brain used to the jet lag and all that. But this was the opposite - west coast teams coming to Raleigh, and the Canes not having to travel. NHL schedule creation is a very complex thing that I think is 2 parts complicated formula and one part 2d12 roll for initiative.
