Workrate Hockey - September 26, 2025
Man, I'm literally sick, and I just wanted to write about preseason hockey, but we have to talk about you-know-who again.
When teams look at their preseason schedule, they might look at one game that they're going to put more of their regulars in because it's a higher profile game. In the Canes case, it was always going to be their "community game", which took place on Wednesday, and will likely be their largest home preseason crowd by a good margin. So, the team brought out familiar faces like Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, Andrei Svechnikov, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Shayne Gostisbehere, Frederik Andersen, as well as the Raleigh debut of free agent signing Nikolaj Ehlers.
And, the Hurricanes gave the Raleigh crowd a Carolina Hurricanes game - a 2016 Carolina Hurricanes game. The Canes outshot Florida 49-16, held a 2-0 lead going into the third period, then lost 4-2. Hell, even Trevor Carrick was there (in a Florida uniform.)
