Workrate Hockey - January 16, 2026
We're not talking about the Blues game. I mean, I don't think we *can*. So what do we talk about?
One of the reasons I'm glad I'm not a "journalist" and just a schmuck who writes a newsletter that I hope a few people read is having to write about games like Tuesday's 3-0 loss against St. Louis. It's got nothing to do with negativity - y'all know (as do the burners at 1400 Edwards Mill Road) that I have no problem will calling out when the team is doing badly or needs to be called out.
It's that this game had absolutely nothing to expand upon outside of a final score from the Canes perspective. No standout play, no good work that brought a goal - nothing worthwhile to add to today's word count. Good writers are like good cooks - they can take the worst leftover ingredients and make them delicious. Tuesday's game would be like trying to make soup out of a paper bag that had some raw chicken in it.
