Is it the end of the line for KK? Also I'm old.

Workrate Hockey - January 9, 2026

I actually went to the Canes game in person last night (I don't get to go to too many games in person) and, outside of it being a perfectly cromulent game in where the team that should have won ended up winning (guys I don't know how Anaheim won all those games early on but... they bad), it made me feel... old.

Everything was very loud, and by that it started with the anthem singer who belted out a great rendition of the anthem, but it seemed like they had it cranked to 11 for whatever reason, which this woman did not need. Then the audio - like 89 percent of the music just felt like it was a few notches too loud. Like, I don't know if I'm getting too used to youth hockey or I'm just yelling at clouds, but the games seem to have gotten louder. The fans? They were fine. Loud fans are always great. But the dubstep doesn't need to be screeching to get those fans excited.

Nate is my spirit animal.

While I'm on the topic of the music, oy with the dubstep already. It serves no purpose. It's just loud to be loud. It doesn't get a crowd moving or cheering, it's just PEWPEWPEWPEWPEWBURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Like, does this piss off opposing teams? Is that the strategy behind it?
