Workrate Hockey? - September 23, 2026

Yes, it's been a minute.

I just wanted to send something out for two reasons.

1) Fantasy hockey is still a thing! I'm a bonehead and neglected to mention anything about it. I believe we tentatively have a Saturday evening draft planned at 7PM, but that's absolutely open to change depending on how many people can make it then. You should see something soon about the league if you were in last year's league - feel free to just join from there, and we'll otherwise try to fill the gaps if we need to (or if there's more interest).

2) I've had a few people reach out to me in DMs and the such to check in on me as I haven't really been much on social media and the newsletter and all that. I'm OK. My love for hockey has kind of taken a hit over the last month, I got into a car accident (let me clarify - someone hit me in my car. I didn't have a damn thing to do with it except existing), and I've been desperately looking for other things to make me feel happy when the normal stuff just wasn't. That - along with social media having zero benefit to me recently - has kind of put me into this hole.

I'll be honest - not doing the social media thing (except Instagram because that still seems to be dumb videos and people just enjoying their random shit) has been pretty refreshing. You guys don't need to know what I'm doing or how dumb I think some celebrity or politician or other social media person is, and I don't really need to see every third post being how this world is a fucking hellscape. Just give me cats and dumb memes and YouTube videos of 80s Mid-Atlantic Superstation WTBS Saturday 6:05pm wrestling and let me crawl into a ball.

But writing helps me get through that too, and the Canes are actually fucking doing something now, so I have actual hashtag content to write about. So, hopefully Friday we'll see an actual newsletter go out, or Tuesday at the very latest, because I've got to yell at something. It's going to be a Festivus miracle.
